Bio

Dan Glenn grew up in Osierfield, Ga, population 28, in the heart of the coastal plains. As an only child, he fell in love with words, then mountains, then food, and finally regenerative agriculture. Following these passions led him to graduate with degrees in English and Journalism at the University of Georgia, co-found a catering and prepared foods business, thru hike the Appalachian Trail, and take part in the foundation of a school of sustainable agriculture on St. Croix, USVI, where he met his wife, Jennifer. They have one child, Silas, who is growing up too fast.

After returning home to his family farm in 2009, Dan caught his grandfather’s passion for cattle. This interest led to his fascination with forages, cattle genetics, and ultimately his love for soil health. His journey continues breeding cattle to fit his environment, experimenting with polycultures and plant guilds, and honing his grazing management to regenerate his depleted coastal plains soils to be resilient, vibrant, and profitable. He founded Deep Grass Graziers to market grass fed beef and forage developed seed stock for the commercial and purebred marketplace. Dan is also a partner in a seedstock marketing business, Sustainable Genetics, and a founding member of Pinebank Southeast, a seedstock partnership with New Zealand based Pinebank Angus. Dan also helps manage a 1200 acre row crop operation focused on peanuts and corn.

Dan is a board member of his local cattlemen’s association, and Vice-President of the Georgia Forage and Grassland Council. In 2016, Irwin County awarded the Glenn’s “Farm Family of the Year.”
