Bio

Keith Bartholomay is a rancher from southeast North Dakota near Sheldon. He operates a 300 head cow calf and background operation with his wife Sandi and son Karl. They utilize native tall grass prairie, tame grass pastures, crop aftermath, and cover crops in their intensively managed grazing operation. They also have a small grazing allotment on the Sheyenne National Grasslands. They also raise corn, sunflowers, soybeans, spring wheat, and alfalfa.

Keith has bachelor’s degree in Range Science from Montana State University and worked as a range conservationist in Nevada and Montana before coming back to the home place in 1982.

Keith has been on the NatGLC board since 2002. He represented the Society for Range Management (SRM) until 2017 when he started representing the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). He is a founding member of the North Dakota Grazing Land Coalition and its 2nd chairman. He is a life member of the SRM and has served as president of the North Dakota Chapter of the SRM and the Northern Great Plains Section of the SRM. He was chairman of the ND State Soil Conservation Committee and is now vice president of the ND Association of Soil Conservation Districts and on the board of NACD. He has been a Supervisor for The Ransom County Soil Conservation District for 35 years. He has served on the board of the ND Stockmen’s Association and is a member of NCBA. He has been a member of and chaired numerous committees associated with these organizations.

Keith and Sandi have 3 sons and 2 daughters.
